Environmental policy

In its production activities, the POLDI Hütte stringently follows obligations based on effective environmental legislation and all respective standards.

Basic Document - IPPC

Integrated Pollution Prevention (IPPC)
The POLDI Hütte is subject to the Act No. 76/2002 Coll. on Integrated Pollution Prevention. The company obtained an Integrated Pollution Permission in November 2006. This document entitles the company to carry out manufacturing procedures even beyond  30 October 2007. The permission makes certain environmental criteria related to the company operations even more stringent than the legislation in force and includes an action plan and modernisation plan aimed to decrease production impact on the environment.

IPPC includes (but is not limited to):
Emission limits
Noise level
Waste
Chemical substances
Water
Defects - maintenance

Raw Material Purchase
Effective and economical utilisation of raw materials for production and maintenance purposes is carefully monitored by the company management. Special rules were introduced regarding purchase of input commodities focusing on products quality and environmental friendliness – the selection of materials is based on these aspects and on operations economisation. Declarations of conformity, safety data sheets and other production documentation is required.

Air Protection
All operated production units are (as sources of air pollution) maintained, set and refurbished in a manner ensuring that the emissions do not approach the permitted emission limits by far. The emission of pollutants is verified by authorised measurements in compliance with the legislation. The furnace units are subject to annual measurements of basic pollutants – solid emissions, carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxides. Every three years, emissions of other substances are measured in compliance with effective legislation.

Production units operation is regulated by an approved operating instructions.

Waste Management
Waste managing activities of the POLDI Hütte company is regulated by an approved waste management plan and in-house operating regulations for waste handling. We are continually seeking ways of minimising creation of waste and maximising possibilities to reuse it. We carry out tenders in order to obtain effective and economical waste services – passing and disposal of our waste materials.

Water Management
Our company complies with the sewage water polluting limits. We are gradually reconstructing the cooling equipment of individual units, and decreasing the consumption of water and the level of water pollution. We have an contingency plan in place regulating the area of substances dangerous to water life.

Packaging Material Handling
POLDI Hütte participates in the EKOKOM system for packaging materials handling.
